HEAD OF operations - Publishing
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, globally-minded Head of Operations to join our team and be a partner to the Managing Director in exploiting our publishing catalogue.
The ideal candidate will combine experience in music with an eye for data analysis and data-informed decision making. You’ll be responsible for future-proofing the growing publishing company’s operational best practices, establishing new operational procedures, responding to client inquiries, and leading communication with our accountants. You’ll also be involved from time to time in business development and A&R, specifically related to planning songwriting camps, sheet music and synch. The position is based in Berlin but open to remote candidates.
TASKS
Establish and maintain Aemeralds publishing catalogue metadata and assets “source of truth” in asset management software - maintain metadata fields including ISWC, ISRC, writer IPI, chain of title, etc., take new song delivery
Deliver all or portions of Aemeralds song catalogue to various exploitation partners including sub-publishers, synch agents, and other platforms
Perform quality assurance that catalogue metadata is correct and all titles registered
Establish and maintain writer royalty system including contractual rates, client payment data
Lead quarterly royalty runs including royalty processing and writer statement generation and associated payment runs
Establish income tracking best processes alongside the label
Maintain communication with all exploitation partners
Lead communication with accountants regarding bookkeeping and taxes
Assist in planning songwriting camps - both administrative (planning travel, scheduling sessions, etc.) and A&R (deciding which writers will attend and who should write with whom)
Explore the synch, sheet music and education / tutorial markets, assessing to see where Aemeralds’ catalogue may have the best opportunities
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years background in the music industry (publisher or society preferred)
Excellent attention to detail
High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel especially) and in general with large data sets
Experience with asset management systems (Reprtoir, RightsHub, etc.), royalty payment systems (Curve, Rights’Up,, etc.), and/or publisher software (iMaestro) a plus
A strategic mindset and confidence working with numbers and data
Self-starter
A passion for instrumental music and an instinct for identifying long-term artistic value
Comfortable working digitally across time zones and cultures
English a must, German very helpful, other languages a plus

Base salary: €30-60k depending on experience
